You guys know I love me some wedding details! And Navy's did not disappoint! From her gorgeous wedding dress to her purple lipstick to her beautiful marquise engagement ring, passed down from her grandmother. It was all so beautiful and true to her personality and style. Navy told me that she planned the details of her wedding around that tube of lipstick. She's had that tube of lipstick longer than she's known Adam, and she loved the color so much that she's held onto all these years, specifically for her wedding day! I always love photographing a bride getting ready for her groom. So much goes into getting ready for your wedding day. There is so much hustle and bustle. So many emotions. Navy is a hair stylist, so not only was she having some of her closest friends making her up, she was also helping do some of her bridesmaids' hair. Navy and Adam are the true definition of "opposites attract". Unlike most of my brides, Navy opted out an in-person consultation and an engagement session. So walking into her bridal suite on her wedding day was the first time that we actually met in person. You wouldn't know that though, by how welcoming and kind she was!She has a huge personality, making you feel as if you've known her forever. Adam, on the other hand, is quiet and shy. When Navy and Adam had their first look, is when I saw Adam really light up for the first time! Their first look was an emotional moment, that I'm lucky to have been able to photograph! February 9 was quite possibly the coldest day in Memphis. Not technically, but after the temperatures being in the 60s and 70s the week prior, the dip down back into the 30s and 40s that weekend felt brutal. That being said, I had about 7-10 minutes for Navy and Adam's portraits before she had to get back inside. She was covered in chill bumps and had tears in her eyes from being so cold! Between the time constraint, and only having a tiny strip of grass between the parking lot and the (very busy) street, I think we were still able to get some really gorgeous photos! Here are a few of my favorites. The wedding ceremony was so sweet! Adam and Navy wrote their own vows. I always love it when couples choose to do this; it's so much more personal. If I could go back and change one thing about my own wedding, it'd be that William and I would have written our own vows. Navy started crying while reading her vows, so Adam stepped over and put his arm around her while she finished. I think that is the point where I started crying myself! I cry at every wedding I get the honor of photographing, and that simple act of comfort that Adam displayed for his bride in front of all his family and friends was such a pure, raw act of love. You may have noticed that Navy and Adam were standing on the "wrong side", when it comes to tradition. Navy told me that her left side is her "better side", so that's the side she wanted in pictures. While I think she is beautiful either way, I'm glad she broke tradition and stood on the other side. It showed off her beautiful tattoos! And now, I need more tattooed brides! Another non-traditional thing that Navy did that I loved, was that after her father-daughter dance, she had a mother-daughter dance! When Navy started crying, and her mom wiped her tear away, I lost it. I am such a sap, that most weddings, you can find me crying behind my camera! Navy and Adam, I wish you two a lifetime of love and happiness! Thank you for letting me be a part of your wedding day! Memphis Wedding Vendors:
