They say it's good luck to have rain on your wedding day, right? Well, Nathalie and Carlin should have enough luck to last them an lifetime! They flew in from California to be married in front of their closest friends and family. When you fly across the country to get married in Memphis, you should go all out and have a full blown Memphis Wedding. Nathalie and Carlin were married at the Stax Museum and served Central BBQ at their reception. Now if that isn't true Memphis fashion, I don't know what is! Their wedding was so much fun and so unique; It was such a joy to get to photograph it for them. Just being around these two put a smile on my face. They were both so patient and kind and down to earth. When it was time to do Carlin and Nathalie's portraits, it was pouring down rain and dark, so we had to make due. We took a few bridal portraits inside using flash (which I ended up loving!), but Nathalie really wanted some done underneath the marquee out front. Most brides would have been stressed and upset about it, but Nathalie was so calm and collected. She was the complete opposite of a bride-zilla! At one point, their wedding planner was even standing out in the middle of the street with me, holding an umbrella over me while I shot the family all squeezed underneath the marquee. It was definitely an interesting experience! Despite the nasty weather, we were still able to get some gorgeous portraits of these two beautiful people! I usually much prefer natural light over artificial light, but not when it came to these wedding photos! When you're photographing a wedding at the Stax, you have to embrace the museum lighting. I love the drama of these! She was made to be a bride! One of the exhibits at the Stax, is a real country church from the Mississippi Delta, dating back to 1906. This little building has been reassembled inside the museum! Nathalie and Carlin were married in this church, with their family and friends surrounding the exhibit! Look at the rain in these family photos! How amazing are their wedding rings?! Who doesn't love some good ol' fashioned Central BBQ?! The perfect Memphis treat for all of their out-of-town guests! Nathalie and Carlin's reception was held in an exact replica of an original Stax recording studio. They hired the Blue Silk Band, so you know there was good music flowing! They even had a caricaturist! Join me in wishing these two a lifetime of love and happiness! Best wishes, you guys! Vendors:
