When I first started photographing weddings, I never realized how emotionally invested in each wedding, I would become. Emotionally invested in each client. Well, let's be honest. They are so much more than just clients to me. They have invited me to be a part of the most important day of their lives. And it's a pretty important part, I must say! Their memories of their special day lie on my shoulders. That's a huge responsibility. But at the same time, it's pretty cool! It allows me to get to really know them. It allows me a chance to learn to love them. I get to see their raw emotions. I am with them during the tears and the laughter. The nerves and the anxiety. But you know what? I am laughing WITH them. I am crying WITH them. I am feeling all the feels WITH them. That's pretty cool. Pretty darn cool that I am invited into the most intimate moments of the most intimate day of their lives... Katelyn and Mark were married on October 3, 2015 at The Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception. Katelyn had expressed to me how gorgeous the cathedral was, and how her dream wedding was always in a beautiful cathedral. Immaculate Conception did not disappoint! It is one that will take your breath away! I would say that she got her dream! The details! You know I love those!! Every bride's details are so unique and specific to her style and personality! Katie's details were so classic and elegant. Do you see that single little cloth rose, mixed into Katie's bouquet?! He mother had that made from Katie's baby blanket!! Those little touches get to me every time! The final touches! When I asked Katie and Mark if they wanted to do a "first look", Mark was quick to tell me "no". He didn't want to see Katie, until she came walking down that aisle to join him for life. Katie did request they share a moment though, and exchange love letters. Katie had been expressing to Mark how much she wanted him in his Dress Blues for some of their pictures, so he thought the perfect time to have them on for pictures was when she couldn't see him! He wanted to give her her wish, but as a surprise! Is that not sweetest thing you've ever heard?! And do you see all of those metals on his chest? He held his hand over them to keep them from jingling, while he walked up to meet her. As he handed her the letter he'd written, and when they held hands afterwards, he even pulled his sleeve up, so she couldn't tell which jacket he had on! I would be lying if I told you I was not in tears over this gesture! Every girl deserves that caring thoughtfulness! And I am so honored to have been able to capture this sweet, intimate moment for them! Immediately following the beautiful ceremony, was a butterfly release. This was a surprise for Katie's dad. He calls her his butterfly. SO SWEET!! I'd say it was a pretty special surprise! Before we headed to the reception, we stopped over at the Formal Gardens of Overton Park for Katie & Mark's portraits together. Katie made such a beautiful bride! And Mark looked pretty handsome himself! We wrapped up the night at the adorable Chimes and Occasions in Mid-town, for their reception, where all of their closest family and friends were waiting to celebrate with them! I adored this little patio at Chimes and Occasions! What a fun Bridal Party! Congratulations, Katie and Mark!! I wish you nothing but a lifetime full of love and happiness! I am forever grateful that you trusted me as your wedding photographer with your very special wedding day! Photography: Sarah Morris Photography
